Only Andrew Symonds offered resistance for Deccan Chargers in the virtual quarter-final against Delhi Daredevils at the Feroz Shah Kotla. Deccan wobbled at the start before the Symonds show and slowed to a crawl post his fall to reach 145 for 7. It was an inspiring performance from Delhi but Symonds' sparkling knock had given Deccan something to defend. It was a slightly slow pitch, better than the previous tracks in Feroz Shah Kotla though, and the chase is unlikely to be a stroll for Delhi.

Deccan solely depended on Symonds. The story of their innings was summarised after the first time-out in the tenth over. Amit Mishra bowled with a slip and a silly point to the new batsman Mitchell Marsh, but when Symonds came on strike most fielders were back patrolling the boundary. Delhi were on the attack and knew only one man posed a threat. Marshall preserved his wicket and allowed Symonds to play a superbly crafted aggressive knock.

Initially, Symonds reserved all his aggression for Amit Mishra: It was a fine battle because Mishra troubled him with his googlies, which Symonds picked off the pitch, but he would time and again counterattack with a muscled hit. He moved down the track to lift a leg break over long-off, followed it by biffing a googly into the same stand and slugged a flighted delivery from outside off over long-on. In between, he edged a legbreak between the keeper and first slip and just when Mishra was on the ascent, Symonds would break free.

He crashed Tillakaratne Dilshan's offbreaks for two sixes and even played a delicate late cut to collect a boundary. Deccan had reached 116 for 4 in the 15th over and things were set for a final assault when Symonds fell. Mishra had just switched to bowling from round the stumps to Symonds and had his man chipping straight to long off. Things went downhill for Deccan from there as Delhi applied the squeeze, just as they had done in the first half of the game.

The seamers Umesh Yadav, Dirk Nannes and Ashish Nehra had bowled fine spells to pick quick wickets at the top. Yadav knocked out the two men in form - T Suman and Rohit Sharma. He cut one sharply back from outside off to breach the defences of Suman and removed Rohit with a slower one. He was just hit for two consecutive boundaries by Rohit when he got a legcutter to bounce at Rohit, who stabbed it to the keeper. Just before Umesh's double-strike, Nehra had lured Adam Gilchrist into top-edging his pull to covers. The top order was dismantled before Symonds played the lone hand. Once he fell, Delhi swooped in for the kill to restrict Deccan to 145.

I’ve been a long time cellphone connoisseur, and have used phones from all major platforms such as Blackberry OS, iPhone OS X, S60v3, S60v5, and WM6/6.1. Last week, Apple announced a new iPhone. The question that arose after the keynote was – Should you get it?

The iPhone 3Gs – S for speed is Apple’s newest iteration of the much-sought after iPhone. Externally the two devices are identical, but internally is wherein the differences are more obvious. I’m not going into technical details of the internal hardware but for those interested – you may read all about it at here

Apple quotes “twice the performance” and my, does it live up to that statement. Due to the enhanced hardware, and double the RAM, the phone really does perform speedily, and performs almost ALL tasks faster than the 3G. There is a noticeable performance bump with the 3Gs and you get a sense of it right from the home screen itself. But the updates don’t stop there. One interesting feature of the iPhone 3GS is the new Oleophobic screen which will not pick up fingerprints easily.

There is a digital compass present now, a 3mp camera (up from 2mp) with continuous AF (comes in very handy!) and video recording. This phone also has now support for MMS (thanks to OS 3.0), and voice command, which is extremely accurate and let’s you control pretty much everything about the phone (native apps only). There’s also an updated 3G radio which supports speeds up to 7.2mbps. A good selection of countries don’t have this HSPA but my carrier, Rogers already supports this speed, so using iPhone 3GS over 3G is more than just pleasant – it’s extremely fast! This isn’t just attributed to the fast 3G network, but overall just a fast phone. All in all, a much needed upgrade.

This is a great feature present only in the 3GS and is damn accurate in detecting voice commands. You can call contacts , play music by just using your voice ! how cool does that sound ?

Sharing Photos and using Email and MMS

You can easily share your photos via Email or MMS. MMS is something which has been there for ages but has just arrived to iPhone via 3.0 software update and Apple does it with style !

And that’s pretty much it. Should you get it? Well, here are the pro’s and cons

Pros

Faster processor
More RAM
Better camera with AF
Video recording with on-the-fly editing
Voice command (which works as advertised)
Faster 3G network (where applicable)
Slightly better battery life

Cons

Quite expensive to upgrade to if you are already locked into a contract
No physical difference from the 3G model (why not?)
Still no flash
Video records in 4:3 only

That’s pretty much what I’ve chalked up for now. Maybe I’ll notice a few more pro’s and cons.

I decided speed and performance were justifiable, and everything else along with the updated OS 3.0 was a bonus. Everything the iPhone lacked, has been rapidly added on, but the competition has been slow to react.

To me, the pro’s outweighed the cons, and the performance increase is tremendous. After using this phone for almost a week, I can say that using a phone with ANY lag will be an automatic no-sale in my eyes.

Unfortunately, iPhone 3GS just set the standard higher.

Kismat Konnection Movie Review

Kismat Konnection is one of the most awaited films this season and there is lots of hype surrounding it. However, it happens quite frequently that many hyped movies turn out to be big disappointments such as Tashan, Love Story 2050, Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic,etc. Fortunately, this is not the case with Kismat Konnection. It`s not just all hype and no substance but a movie with a soul that will immediately connect with the audience.

Story:

The basic plot of the movie revolves around Raj Malhotra (Shahid Kapoor) (doesn`t the name sound too SRKish?…but the film is not as cliched as the name sounds, thankfullysmiling smiley, an architect, who was touted as the next BIG thing during his college days…be it academics,sports,dramatics…he was an all-rounder and his friends had made a TIME magazine cover with Raj`s face on it. Despite his potential and abilities, Raj failed to make it big in life and after 5 years of his graduation he is still not able to achieve success in his life because luck never supported him. Something or the other always goes wrong with him…when he has to wake up at the morning, his alarm clock doesn`t ring, when he is about to be appointed as an architect, the boss of the contracting company dies and so on. Raj tries his luck once again to be appointed for a shopping mall construction project by Mr.Gill (Om Puri) but luck once again betrays him when an old school friend (Manoj Joshi) of his attempts to take away the contract from Raj`s hands and secure it for himself. A disappointed Raj one night sees an advertisment on the television which claims to provide the solution to everyone`s problems in life. The advertisment states that anyone who contacts Haseena Bano Jaan (Juhi Chawla) will be freed from all his worries forever. So, Raj obviously notes down her address and drops in at her premises. Haseena Bano Jaan states that there is a force that is his lucky charm and would remove all his problems but he has to recognize that ’force’. Raj meets Priya (Vidya Balan) several times…once when his car is about to collide with hers…or at the ATM card machine spot or at a bar. Each time he meets her, things turn out to be in his favour and miracles take place with him. He manages to secure a construction contract and also manages to impress Mr.Gill, when it seems impossible to him. It is then when he realizes that Priya is that force that is his lucky charm. However, there are two problems; Priya runs an old citizens hospital and Gill`s shopping mall is constructed at the same place as the hospital and secondly, Priya is about to get married within a few days and Raj won`t have his lucky charm for very long, with him. Plus, Raj also realises by then that he is in love with Priya.

Music:

The soundtrack composed by Pritam is another strong point. My favourite songs from the movie are Aai Paapi, Bakhuda Tum Hi Ho, Sohni and Move Your Body (which appears during the end credits). Other than that, the camerawork of the movie si fantastic. Most of the movie has been shot in Canada and it has been shot so beautifully that I felt like going on a vacation there smiling smiley The film carries a very stylish look but thank God that the story didn`t suffer due to this style…the impact of the movie only enhanced with it.

Performances:

Performances are also top-notch. Shahid Kapoor, even though looks quite young (he can`t help it smiling smiley has undoubtedly matured as an actor and is a complete natural. Vidya Balan is the best thing that has happened to Bollywood since last three years. She is one of the most talented actresses today. Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, Lara Dutta, etc. maybe some of the top actresses today but not any of them is half as talented as Vidya, when it comes to acting. Vidya almost instantly clicks with the audience and the ease with which she performs makes it a treat to watch her act. She also looks amazingly gorgeous, throughout.

Vishal Malhotra who played Shahid`s best friend in Ishq Vishk is back with Shahid once again and does a fantastic job, complementing Shahid throughout and gives a spontaneous performance. Juhi Chawla does something quite different in the role of a numerologist (a la Sunita Menon) and manages to entertain in her special appearance.The surprise factor of the movie is Himani Shivpuri as Om Puri`s wife. For the first time, she does not irritate but actually makes you laugh, thanks to her perfect comic timing, this time around. You will just love her (loved her dialogue, ’’first,reduce your tone”). Om Puri, Boman Irani and others also do a fine job.

Verdict:

On the whole, Kismat Konnection is a complete family entertainer which is sure to lure everyone`s hearts and do well at the box-office too. You should definitely give this one a watch.

The site also has some important information about the load on the server when the NBU University results are announced - this is something good that I noticed on this site, as this is the results and admissions season many educational, university websites are taking high loads and most of them dont show up when the results or other important notifications are announced. This is understandable as most of these infrastructure needs upgradation, but at least some message on other website like the one that we see on North Bengal University results page, will help students who are eager to know their Examinations outcome.

Eamcet 2008 counselling from July 16 th, eamcet councelling notification, counselling 2008 EAMCET, engineering stream

Hyderabad:

Eamcet-2008 counselling for admissions to engineering courses in the state will begin on July 16. The first phase will go on till July 31. A total of 2,51,737 candidates qualified for the engineering stream of Eamcet. There are 338 engineering colleges in the state which offer 1.21 lakh seats and 224 pharmacy colleges with an intake of 13,300 seats.

The notification for the EAMCET counselling will be issued shortly, a source said.

The engineering counselling will be held in eight centres in the State this year.

Federer will surely try to avenge his defeat which he faced at French Open Final last month, where he was demolished by Nadal 6-1, 6-3, 6-0.Roger Federer has been unbeatable at Wimbledon for the last 5 years, winning 102 sets and losing just eight, and 671 games to 394.This year he has not even lost a single set on his way to the finals and is surely the favourite to win Wimbledon 2008.

World No.2 Rafael Nadal reached his third consecutive Wimbledon final when he beat Rainer Schuettler of Germany 6-1, 7-6, 6-4 in the semifinals.The Four time French Open Champion lost both the finals against Federer at Wimbledon in their previous meetings.Last time Federer was stretched by Nadal for the first time to five sets, where he wasted four break points in the fifth set.

But this year Nadal has improved a lot and has been playing the best tennis at Wimbledon.He entered the semifinals with dominating 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 victory over British No.1 Andy Murray & now advanced to finals with straight sets victory over unseeded Schuettler.Nadal may have lost both the Wimbledon finals against Federer but he still leads the all time record against Federer, and definitely poses serious threat in the Wimbledon 2008 Final.

Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na Movie Review

The common question comes to mind when aamir khan is producing a film will be, how the movie is going to be? Coming to jaane tu ya jaane na, will it live up to the expectations?

Story:

While Jaane Tu is Imran’s debut vehicle, it is really Genelia who steals the show. The actress is a real livewire on screen and conveys those annoying feelings of jealousy, confusion, irritability and fake happiness without any problem.

Within the gang, who sport very Bombay nicknames such as Rats (Jai), Meow (Aditi), Bombs (Sandhya), Jiggy (Jignesh), the guys fare much better than the girls. Jiggy delights as the Gujju while Rotlu and Bombs together are smashing as the couple who discover each other as soul mates when left solo by their crushes, Jai and Aditi.

Supporting cast members like Ratna Pathak Shah as Jai’s mum, Paresh Rawal as the police inspector, Naseeruddin Shah, as Jai’s dead Rajput father who speaks from his portrait hold, fort magnificently.

Even the sub-plot of Jai’s rite of passage as a true male Rathore from Ranjhore family by fulfilling three conditions - beating up a person, spending time in jail and riding a horse - is largely saved and made palatable by way of the safe casting of the Shahs and Arbaaz and Sohail Khan, who appear as Rathore boys in the guise of dancing cowboys.

On a whole jaane tu ya jaane na is a lovely cute movie honestly.
Its not a story which never heard or seen but then just like aamir said, It does revive good old college days and bring us a nice love story..

Performances:
Coming to acting, every character has performed well enough.
Debutant Imran looks cool and acting is admirable.
I am not too much in favour of genelia but still she was good in the movie...
It's a love story we all have seen earlier as well. But Abbas Tyrewala made it in such a way that movie looks fresh and touching.

Music: was as expected and well picturized. Thanks to Rehman. Imran would surely notch up a hit with this debut. The movie will surely have a decent opening.

Overall a sweet movie..
PS: The theatrical promo of rock on has shown arjun rampal starring with farhan akthar for the first time.

Review:

Long movie, that is what people will feel after coming out of the theater. Harman baweja's debut to Indian Cinema. Prior to release the movie was seriously hyped. Love Story 2050, itself was enough to create curiosity among masses but do it really makes justification. Do it really made people to come to the cinema hall ? I guess, not really. Seeing the crowd itself reveals that people were not much excited about it. A big budget movie with promos showing sci-fi stuff all around seems to be another lousy attempt from Indian cinema in the field of sci-fi and futuristic movies.

Seriously, I had no expectation when I entered the theater. And after watching it, I was right. What I saw was something out of logic and as expected, ill treatment of special effects and there were hardly effects those were special. Ok, I am no movie director and neither a big time technician but come on ... I need to know what these people had in mind while they made this movie. Seriously disappointed with the execution of script and the presentation. Seems that the director went excited enough and took the subject which he hardly had proper knowledge of.

Before talking further, lets have glimpse how movie story goes. ..
Movie starts in current time and Karan (Harman Baweja) shows an stylish entry. He is son neglected son of a big businessman and have conflicts with his father. Soon, like a common Indian movie romance, he find his love Sana (Priyanaka Chopra). On the other hand, there is his uncle who is making a time machine, Sana wants to goto in future on this machine but unfortunately she dies. But there is now theory of rebirth and Zeisha is rebirth of Sana in 2050. Karan is now in future and wants Zeisha to come with in present. There is Dr. Hoshi who wants to steal time machine from uncle Ya (Boman irani). He now have to fight Dr. Hoshi to save the world. And rest we all know.

Movie is filled with lots of element to make it masala packed, we have romance, we have future, we have time travelling, we have punar janam (rebirth) and lots of music and special effects but still all this does not help movie to become exciting or something to be talked about. I had watched Harry Baweja's previous attempt of sci-fi movie and this is one is not an exception but total disappointment.

I wish if he had worked on something which he knows best better than the sci-fi and future stuff then would have come up with something more interesting and praising. Movie seems like mixture of lots of Hollywood movies. First half is slow and common while second half where our Hero is in future is filled with lots of challenges to your logic. Special effects just makes things undigestable and seems as if they are there included just for the sake of name of the movie.

Music of the film is average while few songs are pleasant composition. This is script and screen play which so lousy and looks amateurish, from all this you may easily get idea that there is no good cordination between technical team and director. I feel there was no team like creativity team which they seriously need. I think we will never get chance to see a good Sci-Fi movie from Indian in atleast next coming couple of years.

Harman Baweja debut movie seems to have ambition of being different otherwise there is nothing in the movie to watch for. Harry Baweja is ofcoruse watchable and he stands out. But I don't if it was get up and dance steps but this guy keeps me reminding of Hrithik Roshan all the time. Anyways, his performance is good in movie even in most emotional scenes.

Priyanaka Chopra with plenty of opportunity in the movie does not leaves any special impact. Even Boman Irani was not utilized properly. Other characters were just to full fill their places.

This movie disappoints big time because of its theme, I wish if Harry Baweja had used this much effort in creating something logistic then would not be such waste of resources.

My Rating goes on Average .. ie. 2.5 / 5

Watch this movie in theater if you do not have any other option that day to kill your time.
